Sholingar, also known as Thirukkadigai, is the sacred Yoga Kshetram where Lord Narasimha manifests as Sri Yoga Narasimha, granting spiritual strength and liberation.
The Sweet Lord of Akkarakkani
This is the sacred Kshetram of the Lord, sweeter than nectar itself. The sweetness of Bhagavan can be imagined like sugar—planted as a tiny seed, growing into a shoot, blossoming into a flower, and finally turning into a fruit full of sweetness. That is why He is called “Akkarakkani”.
Gatikachalam – The Hill of Liberation
He resides atop a small hill called Gatikachalam, which means that even if one stays here for just a Gatika—24 minutes—all sins are washed away. Here, the Lord appears in the form of Narasimha, the most handsome of all Vishnu’s incarnations.
The Tale of Kala and Keya
Long ago, when the demons Kala and Keya tried to disturb the penance of the Saptarishis, they prayed to Narasimha atop this hill. The Lord then sent Hanuman to defeat these evil forces and reduce the burden on the Earth. (Bhoomi Bharam)
Hanuman’s Divine Darshan
Even today, Hanuman gives Darshan here with his Shanka and Chakra atop a hill that runs parallel to Gatikachalam.
Such is the glory of this last Thondai Nadu Divya Desam, full of divine sweetness, power, and grace.
