Nadu Nadu is the central Tamil region of Divya Desams, revered for its deep Vaishnava heritage and praised by Thirumazhisai Alwar and Thirumangai Alwar.

Yatra Overview

Nadu Nadu, revered as the Central Tamil Divya Desams, represents the sacred heartland of Vaishnavism in the central Tamil Nadu region. This spiritually significant region is known for its deep devotional heritage, long-standing temple traditions, and its important place within the Divya Desam landscape.

The Moolavar worshipped in the Divya Desams of Nadu Nadu is Lord Vishnu, revered as Sri Devanatha Perumal and Sri Krishna Perumal. The presiding Thayar of this sacred region is Sri Hemavalli Thayar, who eternally resides alongside the Lord and blesses devotees with divine grace.

The Divya Desams of Nadu Nadu were glorified through Mangalasasanam by Thirumazhisai Alwar and Thirumangai Alwar. Thirumazhisai Alwar, one of the earliest philosopher-visionaries among the Alwars, sang pasurams praising Lord Vishnu in this region, emphasizing devotion combined with inner realization and spiritual clarity.

Thirumangai Alwar, the last of the Alwars, also performed Mangalasasanam on several Nadu Nadu Divya Desams, describing the sacred temples, the surrounding landscapes, and the boundless compassion of the Lord.

Nadu Nadu includes important Divya Desams such as Thiruvahindrapuram, Thirukkovilur, and nearby sacred kshetrams. Due to its location and spiritual legacy, Nadu Nadu serves as a vital bridge between the northern and southern Divya Desam traditions, holding a unique and respected place in Sri Vaishnava tradition.
